Reaching Out: Gisimba Orphanage

Really excited for the upcoming collaboration event with Republic Brooklyn to benefit Gisimba Orphanage in Rwanda at Le Grand Dakar in Brooklyn on Friday, May 29, 2009!
Great food and drinks, stunning photography and art, as well as a silent auction will help fund school fees and food for orphans at Gisimba. (Please see previous post of profiles of 20 students I met with last summer) This is a project close to my heart...after meeting all these amazing children with unbelievable strength and resilience, it is hard not to want to try to help.

My friend, Jamey Poole, linked me up to one of Republic's founders, Jason Voegele, a few months back. After the initial meeting, the group was excited to get on board with planning an art and music fundraiser. Their enthusiasm and energy towards this project is contagious! I've been working closely with members, Samantha Katz and Jay, to work out the details. More soon to follow...
